Ways to Enjoy the Sea-to-Sky this Fall with Your Dog

Tucked between two glorious, busy seasons, fall in Whistler might be the local's best kept-secret. Crowds have faded, bugs have retired and heat has moderated, leading to quieter, cool and pleasant autumn days.

While I appreciate the cozy wool sweater weather, wrapping my hands around hot bevys and enjoying good books in front of the fireplace, one thing I love the most about fall is getting outside and embracing the fresh autumn air with my dogs. I feel so fortunate to call the Sea-to-Sky my home, with a variety of outdoor activities to do year-round and with my best pawls by my side.

I have listed below some ways to enjoy the Sea-to-Sky this fall with your dog:

Go for a hike

Fall might be the perfect time to hit the nature paths. Fewer crowds, crisp air, and colourful foliage are just a few reasons to get outside this autumn with your pawls.

Go for a bike ride

Have you heard the term “hero dirt”? It's the kind of dirt that makes you feel like a hero when you lean the bike over. It is the damp, dark, tacky, fluffy dirt that only happens with moisture and cooler conditions. Well, fall is all about that. And the beauty of living in the Sea-to-Sky is that there are many free, dog-friendly trails to choose from.

Enjoy a Village stroll

Walk with leaves crunching underfoot, feel the cool air through your nostrils, or simply show off your new matching sweaters on a stroll through the village.

Go camping

There is nothing quite like fall camping, with cool, crisp, starry evenings gathered around a crackling campfire. Whether you head out in the backcountry or stay at a campground, always remember to leave no trace and pack out what you pack in.

Go canoeing

Squeeze out every ounce of water time while you can!

Have a cute photo session in the leaves

An autumn classic!

Go for a SUP

If your dog is a pro at SUPing, seeing fall colours from your paddleboard is truly magical.

Make fall beverages and sip on a dock

Wrap your hands around a warm spiced latte while your pawl is enjoying its homemade puppuccino.

Walk along the seashore

Another incredible attribute to the Sea-to-Sky is the close access to the sea. You can find access at different points along the highway where you can take your furry friend for a stroll along the seashore.

Drive (or hike) to the snow line

Temperatures are dropping, rain is falling, snow is accumulating on our favourite mountain peaks. Taking a hike or a drive to the snow line is a great way to fuel your winter excitement.

Go for a drive along the Sea-to-Sky

Now that the summer traffic is gone, cruising along the Sea-to-Sky is a scenic journey that never gets old.
